About Us

History

St. Elmo Irvington Water Authority (SEIWA) became a corporation June 23, 1973. The first tank was erected in 1976 and the system began serving water to the public shortly thereafter. In order to keep-up with the demand, a second tank was placed in service in 1990. As demand continued to increase, a third tank along with a treatment plant was added to the system in 2002. Then in 2009, a second treatment plant was added to the system at the tank one location. The system began providing sewer service to a few customers in 2013. Over the years, the water authority has expanded to a water and sewer facility with over six million dollars in assets.

SEIWA has 3,251 water and sewer accounts and the sewer system is online. We are accepting new customers in limited service areas. Please call the office to verify if sewer is available in your area. With that said, SEIWA is responsible for water treatment, storage and distribution, sewer distribution and treatment, and watershed management with the objective to provide responsible quality water and sewer service to the St. Elmo and Irvington communities at a reasonable price.
